The TennCare Advocacy Program is designed to assist Tennesseans with information on how to obtain, utilize, and keep TennCare benefits. TennCare Advocacy program staff operates a toll-free call center to answer questions from prospective and current TennCare members. We provide information on eligibility categories and requirements, and the application process for TennCare. Our TennCare advocates also provide information and advocacy services pertaining to eligibility appeal rights and procedures. Additionally, advocates provide information and advocacy services for TennCare members when medical/behavioral health services or prescriptions are denied, reduced, or suspended. TennCare Advocacy Program staff also assists TennCare members by directing them to the appropriate agency when they have received medical bills or would like to change their TennCare health plan
Throughout the year, staff in the TennCare Advocacy and Outreach program completes several outreach projects for the Bureau of TennCare. Our advocates play a pivotal role in the successful completion of these projects. Each project requires the Advocates to contact existing TennCare members to verify pertinent member information.
