It Shouldn't Hurt To Be A Child

Life can be stressful and overwhelming. Prevention services helped parents learn safe and healthy ways to deal with stress so that they did not take it out on their loved ones.

Healthy Families Grow Healthy And Happy Children

TNCSA helped families stay together by teaching parents how to love and provide discipline appropriately without causing harm to children.

Quality Doctors

We brought doctors to the countryside in an effort to provide quality healthcare to those who lived further away from metropolitan areas.

Rural Tennessee: A Health Initiative

When doctors were sparse in rural Tennessee, TNCSA stepped in and brought quality doctors to areas where healthcare providers were few and far between.

Helping Our Children Stay Healthy

TNCSA spent a lot of time investing in seeing that this program got off the ground. It is rewarding to know that parents who were between income levels were able to insure that their children were covered if and when they needed it. Rewarding indeed!

Covering Children's Healthcare Needs

CoverKids meets a need for working parents who are unable to insure their children due to cost restraints. TNCSA was instrumental in a grass roots effort to spread CoverKids across the state for the benefit of our children.

Hurricane Katrina & Rita

With thousands of evacuees from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita relocating due to their devastating loss, TNCSA provided housing, appliances, clothing, school supplies and household items helping them to make their new home in Tennessee.

Some evacuees went back home a year or so after the hurricanes hit. Others decided to stay and make Tennessee their permanent home.

You never know when your family may be struck by disaster. It is good to know there has been help in the past and there will be help in the future. TNCSA is grateful for having been able to help these families in need.

When the Gulf Coast was hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, no one was prepared for the damages that our coast would sustain. What is more, no one was prepared for the devastation that took place in people's lives. However, when TNCSA was approached by the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration about providing aid to evacuees that came to Tennessee, we had a plan in place in less than a week and started housing, providing furnishings, and offering resources to those who had no home to return to.

While approximately 80,000 Tennessee homes were without electricity in Memphis and Nashville due to the hurricanes, Tennessee still continued to help evacuees from other states. Tennessee was a staging area for the Gulf Coast evacuees and TNCSA quickly became a part of the statewide relief efforts for the families and individuals seeking shelter from the storms. Case management services and direct financial assistance were provided to hundreds of households allowing families to purchase groceries, clothing, diapers and other basic needs. TNCSA was instrumental in setting families up in new homes with the basic household items and furniture, and also in linking families to other resources that assisted them in meeting their immediate and basic needs.

Once the program drew to a close, a large number of evacuees chose to stay in Tennessee, and are now Tennessee residents giving back to the great state that helped them in their greatest time of need.
